It's a cable, it works!

One thing to note - SATA cables don;t bend very easily; if there is slack, its best to twist the cable than bend it - otherwise it could break. This is especially important in cases with not much space, or external hard drive caddies.

Also, the power adapter is very short, which is OK because the power leads form the PSU should be plenty long enough anyway, but still worth mentioning.
What's needed for a SATA HDD

Not much to say really - basic cables which fit and do the job for under £2.50.

If you're fitting/adding an OEM SATA HDD, this is what you need.
Just what I wanted

Fast delivery. Just what i wanted, works perfect and all at a good price too - very pleased, and if you've moved to SATA things now for your PC buying them from here instead of a expensive supplier or computer store is highly recommended.

Got this combo cheap and it did the job perfectly

My sons multi-format DVD/CD recorder unit in his PC was playing up so I bought a replacement Pioneer one. Touble was the old unit was a parallel ATA [PATA] unit - checked this in the PC system BIOS during startup rather than opening the case. I decided to get a serial ATA DVD/CD drive as the replacement and it should work better on the faster system bus and old style PATA drives are few and far between these days. Wasn't sure if the SATA connectors were already inside the PC case [unlikely for SATA as each device plugs in individually into the motherboard], but the SATA power lead connector might have been there.

Anyway I bought this cheap combo (£5) just in case. As it turned out I needed both and with them fitting the new drive was easy. The only difficulty was connecting the power converter, that clips on the end of an old style white PSU connector - it took a while to fit the two connecter plugs back into the cable bundle, but that was case design as much as the bulkiness of the two plug/sockets. But overall this set made the job really easy as it covered all eventualities and I actually needed both leads as it turned out. Well worth investing in and a month on the cables are working fine. Great value and they arrived really fast from my amazon reseller [Aquarius Computers]. I applied a bit of RadioSpares electrical contact cleaner before fitting. These SATA leads are suitable for hard drives as well as optical DVD/CD drives.
